Colombia’s most dangerous drug kingpin, Rendon Herrera aka “Don Mario”, was captured early yesterday morning in the jungles of Antioquia Province in Colombia.

The BBC reports …
“When he was surrounded, the once-feared cocaine baron was living “virtually like a dog, curled up and clinging to that palm three where he had been for two days.” (BBC)
Reuters UK reports that Mario is accused of exporting 100 tons of cocaine to the United States through Mexico, and is responsible for at least 3,000 murders.
The arrest is a relief for President Uribe, who was offering $2 million dollars for information leading to his capture.
The Colombia Reports in Medellin brings us this perspective from the president.
““I felt in my heart a great [relief] for all Colombians to know that the Police [were] able to capture this criminal and a great hope… after all these accomplishments Colombia will finally, and not so far away, get rid of all this crime.” (The Colombia Reports)
The BBC has this perspective on the fugitive’s capture.
“… when authorities have cut off the head of drug cartels in the past, several more heads have grown, and there could now be a period of bloodlettings as other people try to take over.” (BBC)
