This might be a short NBA season, but the highlight reel looks like it could be long. Sunday night Lebron James’ ally-oop dunk against the Bulls made headlines. But Monday night the Clippers’ Blake Griffin reminded everyone who the “King” of Lob City is. CNN has the slam.
“Here he comes and he goes right over Kendrick Perkins. I mean the guy is six foot ten and he actually throws the ball down over Kendrick Perkins. It’s worth multiple looks. I don’t get tired of watching this.”
The dunk was replayed on multiple networks and many NBA players went to Twitter to compliment. Golden State’s David Lee was one of many players to hit the social networks.
“I never tweet about opponents highlight plays but that Blake Griffin dunk was crazy, definitely worth mentioning...”
King James also complimented the dunk.
“Dunk of the Year!! @blakegriffin just dunked on Kendrick Perkins so hard!! Wow!! I guess I'm #2 now. Move over #6”
And NBA legend Magic Johnson put the dunk in perspective.
“The @blakegriffin dunk tonight over Perkins made me realize that he's one of the best in-game dunkers in @NBA history.”
But Griffin didn’t take all the credit. The Chicago Sun Times reports he loved Chris Paul’s pass.
“‘CP commands so much attention out there. He came off the pick-and-roll and he hit me in stride,’ Paul added: ‘I told Blake after the game, ‘Thanks for letting me be part of that.’”
But another key component of that play was not so happy to be in the picture. USA Today has Kendrick Perkins’ stand.
"‘It happens,’ Perkins said. ‘At the end of the day if you're a shot blocker, you're going to get dunked on. It was a great play that he made. Obviously I wish I wasn't in it, but it was a great play that he made.’”
The dunk helped the Clippers beat the Thunder 112-100 and extended the Clippers’ winning streak to three games.
