Surprise, surprise... the Garden State Governor, Chris Christie, is not, I repeat, is not, running for president. So, just in case you missed it the first hundred times he said it, here he is “AGAIN” Tuesday, clear as daylight... WTXF has that video...
NJ GOV. CHRIS CHRISTIE: “For me, the answer was never anything but no. My job here in New Jersey is my passion. ... In the end, what I’ve always felt was the right decision remains the right decision today.”
CNN took to breaking news banners with the announcement. But it was anything but breaking news
In fact -- a week before Christie revealed the not-so-shocking news, Politico strung together two minutes of his past denials...
“No, I’m not running, I’m 100 percent certain I’m not going to run, I don’t want to run, I don’t feel like I’m ready to run, first you have to, in your heart, want it more than anything else and I don’t want it that badly.”
Around the time Politico released that video, the Republican governor insisted people watch it to get the clear message...
But clearly -- they didn’t get it. Comedian Jon Stewart highlighted the media’s response on his show...
“Chris Christie has left the door open, ever so slightly, well he left a sliver open, he left a little sliver open, Christie’s comments, especially are a rorschach test, you see what you want to see, hear what you want to hear.”
“You hear what you want to hear, everyone else hears, I’M NOT RUNNING.”
And as if Christie’s crystal clear statements weren’t enough, he even threatened suicide to drive home his message... Philadelphia’s WTXF has that video...
“Short of suicide, I don’t know what I have to do to convince you people that I’m not running, I’m not running!”
To which -- National Review Online’s Josh Barro tweeted:
“...if Christie is still alive at the end of his presser today, that means he's leaving the door open to running.”
And while it’s hopefully pretty clear across the board now, that Christie will not be running for the GOP spot in next year’s election... some are already moving speculation to his moves for future presidential possibilities. Patch.com points out...
“He left the door open to running in the future: ‘I'm not going to preclude any job, whether president or working at NBC.’"
