Two Florida children were digging in their backyard when they found something explosive — literally. Here’s WESH-TV and Central Florida News 13 with more.

WESH-TV: “A little boy found a live grenade buried in front of his yard in Christmas. The homeowner telling WESH his grandson picked up the grenade and brought it to him. He called the sheriff's office who found a second grenade close by.”

CENTRAL FLORIDA NEWS 13: “Deputies say both were ‘pineapple’ style grenades, used in the Vietnam war era. … The Orange County sheriff's office says they will be contacting the Army to see if they know how the old hand grenades ended up in Christmas and whether the area was ever used for military training exercises.”

Both grenades found on the property were detonated. According to WKMG, the boy’s grandparents now say they have a new rule at their house:

“Carol Dodaro says digging is the boy’s favorite thing to do, but there’s a new playtime rule.”
GRANDMA: “What’s the new rule?”
RILEY: “No digging no more”

No more digging at grandma’s house. No one was injured when the grenades were detonated. According to WKMG, the investigation is in the hands of the military now, and they will be making sure there aren’t any more grenades in the yard.
