After months of public outbursts and disagreement with producers, it’s official — Chevy Chase is leaving NBC sitcom ‘Community.’

Chase’s departure from the show is effective immediately and despite the fact that he and the producers of the show are parting ways by “mutual agreement,” there’s been no shortage of drama on the set.

Chase made headlines early this year for leaving producer Dan Harmon a heated voicemail that leaked online and then again in October. AskMen.com has more on that.

“And today we learned that Chevy Chase went on another profanity-laced tirade that included the use of a certain N-word... Apparently Chase used the epitaph in protest over scripted lines he felt were actually racist.”

Still, Chase hasn’t exactly been laying low. He voiced his displeasure about his gig in an interview with Huffington Post UK in September.

“The hours are hideous, and it's still a sitcom on television, which is probably the lowest form of television. That's my feeling about it... It's not like I am working with the great innovators of all time...”

After plenty of delays, the new season of Community recently got a February 7 premiere date. Deadline reports on what’s next for the sitcom.

“With a February start, Community is unlikely to go beyond the 13 ordered episodes this season. Chase will be in most of them, so his departure will be felt if the series gets a fifth season renewal.”

Chevy Chase has been on the show for three years.
