That was Chelsea Clinton making the surprise announcement Thursday alongside soon-to-be grandma Hillary at a Clinton Foundation event titled "No Ceilings: The Full Participation." NBC reports she told the crowd of mostly women she enjoys knowing her child will "grow up in a world with so many strong, young female leaders."

This is the first child for the 34-year-old Clinton and husband Marc Mezvinsky and the timing seems to be exactly what they wanted. Last year, Clinton told Glamour Magazine she and her husband planned to start having kids in 2014.

Of course she wasn't the only one beaming with joy. Since all the Clintons are all on Twitter, it didn't take long to get reactions from the former POTUS and first lady.

And how's this for solidarity: President Clinton and Hillary sent out nearly identical tweets just minutes apart celebrating the news and their new titles.

The announcement comes just days after Fast Company published an article saying Clinton is leaving the door open for a career in politics. She told the outlet, "I live in a city and a state and a country where I support my elected representatives. If at some point that weren't the case, and I didn't support my mayor or my city councilwoman or my congresswoman or either of my senators ... maybe then I'd have to ask and answer the question for myself, and come to a different answer."

And to further the speculation, CNN's Tom Foreman posted this tweet asking if the unborn Clinton baby will be a candidate in 2049. Never too early, right?

Clinton has not yet announced the gender or the due date for her first child.
