Casey Anthony says “things are starting to look up” for her.
Video of the woman found not guilty of killing her toddler daughter Caylee surfaced online Thursday morning. Here’s a clip.
“I’m extremely excited that I’ll be able to Skype, keep a video log, take some pictures...”
NBC News is confirming the woman in the video is in fact 25-year-old Casey Anthony. The network notes, Anthony never mentions daughter Caylee.
“Sporting shorter, blond locks, Casey provides few details about where she is as she serves her probation at an undisclosed Florida location. ‘I'll still be here at least until February, the end of February. Seven months, March, my birthday.’”
The video runs more than 4 minutes long, and aside from announcing she adopted a dog -- doesn’t reveal a whole lot else -- except an indication there might be more video diaries to come. The Christian Science Monitor skeptically asks -- why now?
“...since the trial, there has been speculation - but no confirmation - of a book or movie deal. In September, Anthony was ordered by a Florida judge to pay more than $97,000 to law enforcement agencies as compensation for their efforts to find the missing child. … Could the video be the start of her fund-raising efforts to pay off her public debt?”
But HLN’s Ryan Smith thinks Anthony’s motives are less sinister.
“I think, that she's very lonely and that she wants to reach out to somebody. In fact, she indicates at a lot of places she is alone. At one point, she says she's glad to have this video diary because she's been talking to the dog...”
