Authorities lifted the last evacuation orders for nearby communities late Saturday after firefighters reported 61 percent of the fire had been contained. The inferno has engulfed more than 1,900 acres. (Via Glendora Patch)
Police have named three suspects whose illegal campfire near Glendora's Colby trail allegedly sparked the wildfire. The men are currently being held on $500,000 bail, and could face federal charges. (Via LAist)
KNSD notes five homes were destroyed and at least 17 structures have been damaged by the blaze, though thankfully no injuries or deaths have been reported.
To make matters worse for fire crews, California is currently suffering through a dry spell of historic proportions. On Friday Governor Jerry Brown declared a drought emergency, noting the state's water levels have dipped to alarming levels. (Via KABC)
Firefighters originally hadn't expected to reach 61 percent containment until Tuesday, but a U.S. Forest Service spokesman told the Los Angeles Times Saturday's fair weather helped the firefighters make good progress.
"Temperatures were steady and the wind was not as unruly as it was the past few days. It was a good day to do some work."
Officials estimate the Colby fire will be fully contained by Wednesday.
