One hundred thirty-two pounds — that’s pretty heavy for a fish. But that’s what it took for Keith Williams to set the new world record for largest giant Siamese carp ever caught.

Look at that puppy. Well, it’s actually a carp, but you know what I mean. Williams, the happy camper on the left, caught it in Thailand while celebrating his 56th birthday. It reportedly took him 25 minutes to reel in his catch. (Via Metro)

Setting a world record on your birthday — probably a pretty decent gift and something Williams told his wife ahead of time he could see happening.

“Williams is from Great Britain, and he told his wife he could feel it in his bones that he was going to catch something special. R=Fortunately it was a fish he was talking about.” (Via WDJT)

Williams is reportedly taking the record from Terry Mather, who is known for his 116-pound giant Siamese carp, the same species Williams snagged. (Via Mega Fishing Thailand)

Despite the prediction, the new record holder says he was in complete shock of his catch, saying he never would have imagined a catch that size in his wildest dreams. (Via The Times)

Well, guess that makes it more than a dream come true. But until the International Game Fish Association approves the catch, Williams’ world record won’t be completely official.
