We’ve all heard of the smartphone... but how about the smart arm? Check out this story from WOIO.
“You know we have a tendency to carry our smartphones everywhere. One British man has his built in to his arm. His prosthetic arm, that is.”
Trevor Prideaux was born without his left arm.
The Telegraph reports Prideaux came up with the idea for the arm dock when he realized how difficult it was using cellphones one-handed, usually having to lay his phone on a flat surface to use it.
“Now he can call and text his loved ones without moving the mobile, which is embedded into his fibreglass and laminate limb.”
A writer for Gizmodo says-- what a great idea.
“You free up a pocket, have your phone always accessible and live in a futuristic reality where your prosthetic arm is smarter than a dumb fleshy one. I like your creativity Mr. Prideaux, I like it a lot.”
Prideaux says his new, smart idea has made life much more normal. The Inquirer quotes him saying...
"The phone slots smoothly and securely within my limb and is easily removable, when required. I think this would help a lot of people with prosthethic arms - especially those who were not born with the disability.”
