ANCHOR MEG MURPHY

You're watching multisource entertainment video news analysis from Newsy.

It was high noon for Bristol Palin at the Saddle Ranch in LA Friday Night. With camera’s rolling, a heckler lashed out at the former Alaska Governor’s daughter while filming her reality show, but no one told Bristol to pull in her horns.

Hollywoood TV shot the exclusive video.

Here’s the what lit the fuse...

(SWV)
MAN: “Did you ride Levi [Johnston] like that? Your mother’s a whore!”

… the build-up...

(SWV)
MAN: “You’re mother’s the [expletive] devil dude.”

...and the publicist-cringing comeback.

BRISTOL: “Is it because you’re a homosexual?”
MAN: “Pretty much. Why did you say I’m a homosexual.”
BRISTOL: “Because I can tell, is that you boyfriend right there?”
MAN: “That’s not my boyfriend.”

Turns out that man was gay. He proudly identified himself as 47-year-old Stephen Hanks. After Palin’s TV crew separated the two, “heckler Hanks” was airin’ his lungs again on TMZ.

“Someone at the bar asked are you an actor, are you a plant? I’m like no. I’m just there being me and you know I’m very passionate about politics...  I acted upon my feelings and I would do that anytime, anywhere.”

Later Hanks returns to TMZ and apologizes for his sore remarks.

“I am ashamed of myself today after watching it. Would I do it again... no. (FLASH) I had no idea that cameras were that close and on us.”

So who’s at fault? Palin’s camp tries to pick up the pieces after Bristol’s quick-draw comment. Extra has the rep’s response.

“She was only defending her mother and is not homophobic... The situation ended with no incident, and accusing her of homophobia is completely unfounded and totally misstates her views.”

So Bristol has a sharp gaydar, but a writer for Gather thinks bringing a man’s personal sexual life -- was a cheap shot.

“Bristol’s comments about the man's sexuality were hateful and offensive, and in this present time of excessive bullying, sent a message of no tolerance and blatant unkindness...Bristol should have simply walked away.”

A blogger on The Stir says Bristol comment was unfortunate, but her heckler only made himself look bad.

“This guy actually made the Palins look sort of good here, which is no easy feat. You don't go and call a young girl's mother a whore... the fact that he had no hard facts or information to back any of his hecklings up, well, that just makes him look like a bigger douche.”

I might be a while before Bristol crawls through the LA bar scene again, after all she is only 20.
