Rumors are swirling over the possible break-up of superstar couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The gossip started with Brad and Angie’s noticeable absence from awards shows, including the Screen Actors Guild awards last weekend. Some outlets are even reporting that Brad’s ex, Jennifer Aniston, is behind the break-up. So are they splitting, or could this all be a big publicity stunt?

We’re looking at perspectives from E!, The New York Daily News, CBS, USWeekly and OK!.

E! is reporting that the couple is still together, but these break-up rumors might be part of a grander scheme.

“1) How ridiculous are the incessant Brangelina break-up rumors? You’ve seen the magazine covers, right? 2) Practically every week since they started dating. But we’re hearing Brad and Angie are not only doing just fine, thank you, but they first heard of the tabloid rumor of their split while out for a romantic dinner. Yes, together.”

The New York Daily News says Brad and Angelina have been MIA from awards shows because of their hurt egos — neither actor has been nominated for an award this season. The paper quoted an insider source.

“Although ‘Inglorious Basterds was nominated, Brad wasn’t up for anything individually, and neither was Angelina. Besides, they’re Brangelina. They can do whatever they want.”

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton believes there’s yet another reason why the couple has gone missing. He shared his thoughts with CBS.

Anchor: "But so many rumors that his family doesn’t like her, that they don’t sleep in the same bed, that all they have in common is their six kids. Sometimes when there’s this much, you know, where there’s smoke there’s fire."

Perez Hilton: "You know, a close source to them reminded me that this is a very difficult time of the year for Angelina, and if they don’t have to go to awards shows they won’t, because only just two years ago Angelina’s mom and her very good friend, Marcheline, passed away.”

Even though representatives for the couple say all is fine and dandy, this week’s issue of UsWeekly says that Brad is miserable at home. The magazine reports that Angelina thinks Brad isn’t helping her enough when it comes to raising their six kids. Sources had some very colorful things to say.

“She’ll yell at him when he makes the eggs too runny or burns something.”

“ ... Pitt took to, ‘calling her a bitch behind her back.’”

Oh, and there’s also the blast from the past. OK! Magazine reports that Brad is back in the well-toned arms of his famous ex, Jennifer Aniston. OK! says Brad and Jen met backstage at pal George Clooney’s Hope for Haiti telethon in Los Angeles last Friday. At the time, Angelina was across the country in New York for a photo shoot. The magazine’s source spoke about how much Brad misses his former flame.

“Brad keeps reminiscing about how easy the relationship was.”

So, is Hollywood’s golden couple splitting, or just unhappy without any golden statues? Even more racey, is Brad Pitt really returning to the woman he left five years ago?
