Looks like Bing might bump Google off the dictionary.
A new report says if you need to find a result in a hurry -- maybe you should give Bing a try. TopNews explains.
“Even though the Microsoft Bing search engine lags way behind Internet search giant Google in terms of search market dominance, a new report released by Experian Hitwise this week has revealed that when it comes to accuracy of search results, Bing apparently rules the roost!”
The company, which measures internet users’ behavior, says Google saw a small loss in the search market, with Bing picking up some of the slack. The International Business Times reports.
“Guaging what they term as ‘success rates’ -- defined as the percentage of search queries that result in a visit to a website -- they reported that Bing searches in the U.S. in July posted a success rate of 80.04% compared to 67.56% for Google.”
The news comes amid debate over whether Microsoft’s plans to unseat Google are just too steep a hilll to climb. A writer for InformationWeek says -- Bing’s revenue has a bright future.
“The numbers could help Microsoft boost its revenue from online services, as they show marketers that keywords purchased on Bing-powered sites have a better click-through rate than those purchased on Google.”
Finally, a writer for ITworld says -- if Bing really is the better search engine, Google’s market lead won’t last long.
“Loyalty didn't keep Myspace users away from Facebook once they concluded Facebook offered a better social networking experience. And loyalty didn't keep users of AltaVista from abandoning that search engine ... about 10 years ago once they decided Google was better.”
