In the latest round of violence in Thailand, twin explosions have injured at least 28 protesters.

The bombs went off Sunday at an anti-government camp in the Thai capital of Bangkok. The attackers reportedly threw explosive devices behind the rally stage before fleeing on mopeds. (Via ITN

Such attacks have become almost a daily occurrence in recent months. Earlier in the week, a man was killed and 39 more wounded when an anti-government activist opened fire a protest site. (Via The Wall Street Journal

The opposition party has blamed the government of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra for the attacks, which the government denies.

This all started back in October, after Yingluck's attempt to pass an amnesty bill that would have allowed for the return of her brother, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who was ousted in a military coup eight years ago. (Via Wikimedia Commons / Gerd Seidel, U.S. Department of Defense

That didn’t go over well with the protesters who say Yingluck is basically a puppet for her brother. They want to get rid of her and replace her with an unelected council. She’s refused to step down, and the protests have intensified. (Via YouTube / routergods, RT)

In an attempt to smooth things over, Yingluck dissolved the parliament last month and called for new elections in February — elections the main opposition Democrat party has said it will boycott. (Via NPR

Nine people have been killed and more than 450 have been injured  in the protests since they began in November. Thailand's defense chief recently called for talks between the government and protesters.
