Customers at Sprinkles ATM can now get dough from the machine, only this dough is a whole lot tastier.  Fox News reports on the world’s first cupcake ATM.

“So anybody looking for a sugar fix can insert a credit card and for four bucks, which is a little steep, you get an individually wrapped cupcake in any flavor.  The machine only available at Sprinkles Bakery.”

Sprinkles founder Candace Nelson came up with the idea when she was pregnant and craving a sweet treat after hours. But how does this thing work? Here is a video from the Huffington Post testing out the machine.

The robotic arm selects your cupcake from a vault with 600 boxed cupcakes.  And that vault is continuously stocked while the store is open.  Finally, your tasty treat is revealed on a rotating cylinder.

Sprinkles claims cupcakes will be baked within a few hours of consumption because the store only shuts down between 11 pm and 2 am. Still scratching your head about this one?  CNN says you’d be surprised by the stuff that’s come out of vending machines.

“From ladies’ nylons in the 50s to meat, steaks and chops, to live bait?  But night crawlers can’t compare to sprinkles.”

A writer for the Original Winger says this new machine is a reflection on consumers today.

“I still cant figure out if I’m impressed by the genius of this idea or completely floored that we as a nation has such an insatiable appetite for sweet cakey goodness that we cant wait until the doors open, and we need a 24 hour ATM to get cupcakes.”

And Comedian Daniel Tosh with Tosh.0 thinks this whole cupcake obsession needs to end. And he adds...

“Know what I prefer being obsessed with?  Not having diabetes.”

But it doesn’t look like people’s love for these baked goodies is going away any time soon - LAist reports the machine has been dispensing 1,000 cupcakes a day.
