Remember those baby dolls from grade school?  The robotic, crying ones that were meant to teach you about parenthood?
Turns out the dolls have multiple purposes... like oh... saving a whole family from a fire?!

WSMV has more about the Tennessee family’s survival.

REPORTER: “The doll began crying at 3:30 Monday morning, just as a fast-moving fire was destroying the Deason family home. It woke Christian up just in time.”
CHRISTIAN DEASON: “ It was just a big white wall of smoke.”

A teacher sent 17-year-old Christian Deason home with the baby doll in order to learn about a newborn’s habits. And as a reporter for WTFV explains the doll started crying just in time.

REPORTER: “Fire Marshall Victor Woods said the fire quickly moved through the attic.”
WOODS: “Within probably one to two minutes it was already in the attic and had plenty of oxygen there and spread through easy.”
REPORTER: “Giving the young woman just enough time to get her family outside.”

The family said it just checked its fire alarms a week before the fire, but a writer for the Murfreesboro Post reports the Deason’s may not have had the right type of alarm.

“There are two basic types of smoke detectors: ionization detectors and photoelectric detectors. The family was codes compliant with their ionization smoke detector; however, Woods recommends that people consider having a combination... Ionization detectors will more quickly detect flame while photoelectric detectors respond more quickly to smoke from smoldering fires.

The teenager, her mother, mother’s boyfriend and a dog were all able to get out of the flaming house.
And don’t worry, the super hero baby doll survived the fire as well.
