An Arizona Republic reporter says state Sen. Lori Klein deliberately pointed a loaded gun at his chest.
“Anthem Republican Lori Klein was showing off a laser sighting on her gun at the Capitol in Phoenix... And while doing so pointed the gun at a reporter who was interviewing her.” (KOLD)
But as KMSB reports-- Klein says the reporter moved in front of her .038 Ruger.
“In a statement she says: ‘during this demonstration, the reporter came and sat down in the sofa in front of me, placing himself in the line of the laser sight.’ Senator Klein says she wont take the gun out for anyone... Anymore.”
So now it’s a case of he wrote-- she says. But whether the situation was intentional or not-- one range master tells the Arizona Guardian,
"It goes with out saying firearms owners are waging a nonstop battle for PR and any type of incident like this is not favorable to the gun-owing public..."
And The Huffington Post notes, gun control has been a big issue in Arizona this year.
“The shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords ... on January 8 has reignited the national debate over gun control. President Barack Obama called for stronger gun laws in the wake of the shooting, and… the Obama administration is preparing to release a series of reforms in the near future.”
The chair of the Senate Ethics Committee said Klein’s actions may have been reckless, but they don’t violate any Senate rules.
