Looking to shave some time off your holiday shopping? Apple may have an answer -- in it’s upcoming Apple Store app update. MacRumors explains.
“...Apple is planning to launch an update to its retail store iOS appthat will allow consumers to utilize self-checkout for purchases of accessories and other shelf-stocked items at the company's retail stores.”
So how exactly will this app accelerate your Apple experience? Sources tell BGR -- by cutting out the middleman.
“…after you find the item you want to buy … you launch the Apple Store app ... and there will be an option to buy a product in the store. You scan the product with the camera on your device, ... click purchase, and it will charge whatever credit card is associated to your Apple ID. You then just walk out of the store.”
Nervous about coming off like a shoplifter? Worry not, according to SlashGear the new app will also provide some proof of purchase.
“The exact system for the new payments process has not been disclosed, though the iOS app is expected to email a receipt for each order in case you get stopped by security on the way out.”
And according to CNET the app update will expedite in-store pickup as well -- to 12 minutes or less.
“Choose your item, and if it's in stock it'll be ready 12 minutes later. It takes three minutes for the order to go to the designated Apple Store, then Apple's box-shifters have two minutes to pick it out. There's a seven minute grace period, in case of any mishaps.”
And The Next Web says, once you get there, don’t bother standing in line.
“...you’re going to have priority when you use the app or purchase online. Walk in, pick up your item, skip the queue, walk out. We’re quite liking the sound of this.”
