Apple reaches another branch on the tech tree. Fox Business reports.

“Apple’s iOS App Store always seems to outshine its computer-based counterpart, but it seems the company’s Mac App Store has just hit a big milestone of its own...Apple’s Mac App Store now plays host to over 10,000 applications.”

Ubergizmo explains with the Mac App Store, the company is in the midst of changing the way people purchase software for their computers.

“Instead of heading over to the various developer’s websites to see what is available, all users have to do is head to the Mac App Store. And with it comes even another advantage of Apple itself having the avenue to provide its own software and various updates to titles already purchased and installed by users.”

“You don’t use itunes to use the app store and you can’t browse the app store online or on iOS device. You have to do it through the app on the mac.”

Web pro news explains — because of these limitations not everyone is pleased with the App Store.

“Many have expressed concern that it is the first step to bringing to the Mac the same sort of ‘walled garden’ ecosystem that is on the iOS platform. The worry is that eventually Mac users will only be able to install software that Apple has approved.”

Techvibes reports Apple is setting up the Mac App Store so it will have more relevance for users.

“Desktop apps clearly haven't taken off like mobile apps however, Apple's upcoming Mountain Lion OSX, which is expected to launch on iMacs and MacBooks this summer, is bringing many mobile features to the desktop—which may spur a slew of new desktop-mobile hybrid apps.”
