After a major security breach hit security analysis firm Stratfor on Saturday, the company warns its members still aren’t safe. Stratfor writes those who are speaking out in support on Facebook...

“...may be being targeted for doing so and are at risk of having sensitive information repeatedly published on other websites. ...we recommend taking security precautions when speaking out on Facebook or abstaining from it altogether.”

Meanwhile, as of Tuesday morning the company’s site still read “undergoing maintenance” after that attack, which hacktivist group Anonymous claimed responsibility for with this tweet on Sunday.

But why go after the Austin-based intelligence firm? Though the firm’s client list includes big-name companies, Anonymous says the hack was not to fill its own bank account. NBC reports.

“Hackers from the group Anonymous claim they stole thousands of credit card numbers and other personal information from the company and used it to make donations to charity.”

However, a security analyst blogs this Robin Hood move might actually have the opposite affect – hurting charities, not helping them.

“When credit card owners see unauthorized charges on their cards, they report them to their bank or credit card company. Credit card companies will do a charge back to the charities, which will have to return the money.”

Anonymous claims they accessed information from Stratfor’s highly-guarded, private list, which includes the U.S. Army. But Stratfor says that claim is false. Still, ABC reports...

“Ironically, Anonymous says that it was able to break into Stratfor’s system because they did not encrypt client information, which if proven true would be an embarrassment for the security-related firm.”

As Mashable reports, this could be just the first of several upcoming hacks. Anonymous is promising more. So, who’s next?

“@YourAnonNews tweeted that Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift were among the next targets.”
