Al Qaeda plans to attack again – and the U.S. government is putting international and domestic airlines on alert. Fox News reports…

“There is chatter that terrorists are considering surgically implanting bombs into the human body to carry out an attack. U.S. officials say there is no specific plot in place – the strategy is not new but they do say there is fresh interest in attempting such an attack.”

Airport security has increased significantly since Sept. 11, 2001 –But now airport security is on high alert for Al Qaeda attackers. Here’s WABC.

“U.S. intelligence believes Al Qaeda has recruited doctors willing to medically insert small pouches of high explosives into terrorists in order for them to pass undetected through airport scanners.”

U.S. security experts believe the attackers could inject a detonating chemical into their bodies to trigger the bombs. NDTV explains…

“Potential bombers would carry a letter from a doctor claiming they have had surgery and need to carry a needle and syringe for medical reasons.  It would be sufficient to clear security during check-in for a flight.”

While Al Qaeda finds new ways to attack – White House spokesman Jay Carney believes the U.S. is one up on Al Qaeda.  The Wall Street Journal quotes Carney…

"’That fact that terrorists are interested in finding ways to attack us is pretty much self-evident...Our security procedures are multifaceted, and we adjust them according to the threat all the time.’"

As a security precaution –people traveling into the U.S. may undergo additional security measures.  KUSA reports…

“These extra precautions are designed to be unpredictable, so passengers should not expect to see the same activity at every airport. Measures may include interaction with passengers –in addition to the use of other screening methods such as pat-downs and the use of enhanced tools and technologies.”

Airlines all over the world and foreign partners are being warned so they can take the essential security measures to be prepared as well.
