Barack Obama has often said he’ll welcome any and all advice as America’s 44th president… And the advice is pouring in.
Hello, I’m Charlotte Bellis, and you’re watching newsy.com.
We’re monitoring coverage from CNN, Korea’s Joongang Ilbo, Jamaica’s The Gleaner, and more.
There’s no doubt the new president faces a daunting to-do list…
CNN reminds President Obama to make his health and downtime a priority.
“Try to keep your basketball buddies. They’re not just there to keep the president in shape, they’re there to keep the stress away.” (CNN)
There is of course, more serious, policy-related advice for America’s commander-in-chief.
The Korean daily newspaper Joongang Ilbo acknowledges Obama’s need to prioritize American interests… but warns:
“It is clear that the U.S. cannot do everything by itself. Obama must seek ways for both America and the world to prosper in peace.” (Joongang Ilbo)
Jamaica’s The Gleaner keeps it simple… saying:
“My only advice to President Obama is for him to fulfill his mandate of change - the rest will follow.” (The Gleaner)
Creating a more transparent government is a trend in the advice Obama is getting from those both in the U.S. and abroad. FOX News suggests the president not forget who he works for:
“The White House is owned by taxpayers, and the officials who work in it work for them. Setting the White House off like a fortress reinforces the unhealthy insularity and isolation too prevalent in the [previous] administration.” (FOX News)
And how much should President Obama be making to heed all this advice?
CBS aired some salary suggestions from some of America’s youngest advisors:
“Something around 100 million dollars. Something around that. Nothing lower, but maybe bigger. It’s a hard job!” (CBS News)
In actuality, President Obama’s salary is $400,000.
So what’s your advice for President Obama? We want to hear your suggestions. And please, check out our sources.
