Adam Lambert apparently wasn’t feeling the Christmas spirit this week. The reality star was visiting his boyfriend in Finland -- where HE is a reality star, and the two wound up in a barfight … with each other. Here’s KTTV.
“Adam Lambert, the former American Idol runner-up, was thrown behind bars in Finland overnight after a brawl with his boyfriend outside a bar. In fact, both he and his boyfriend ended up in the pokey after allegedly assaulting each other and those who tried to break up the fight.”
Lambert had been in Finland since Monday to celebrate the holidays with his partner, who he has been dating since 2010. And, in case this fight wasn’t dramatic enough -- The Hollywood Reporter points out another saucy detail.
“Finnish beauty queen Sofia Ruusila, an ex-Miss Helsinki, who had been celebrating with Lambert and Koskinen, told a Finnish entertainment channel that she had tried to get between the quarrelling couple when Lambert accidentally hit her by mistake.”
USA Today has the couple’s responses post-smackdown. Here’s Lambert’s Tweet, followed by his boyfriend’s blog post.
“‘Jetlag+Vodka=blackout. Us÷blackout=irrational confusion. jail+guilt+press=lesson learned. Sauli+Adam+hangover burgers= laughing bout it. :)’ Koskinen posted about the incident in his blog, writing, ‘Publicity is not easy, but also celebrities are just human. Love is not easy either, but it lasts forever!’”
But PerezHilton.com doesn’t approve of the tone in Lambert’s Tweet.
“Making fun of what happened does not make it okay. … How many times does your fist need to connect with things for your to understand that violence is NEVER okay?!”
And The Los Angeles Times seems to imply that celebrity status actually has helped in this case.
“Getting released without being charged probably helped too. No need to wait for bail, then don the hoodie-and-sunglasses uniform of morning-after shame and slink around waiting for his publicist to kick into gear.”
29-year-old Lambert competed on American Idol in 2009.
