Goodbye, girls! The 2011 version of Charlie’s Angels is no more. Access Hollywood has the scoop.

“What didn’t work? Charlie’s Angels, which has been canceled. ABC had big hopes for the big budget remake starring three pretty ladies and executive produced by Drew Barrymore. The ratings just didn’t hold up, averaging 6 million viewers a night. Sorry Charlie!”

ABC stopped production of the 1970’s remake, but She Knows writer Deanna Barnert says there’s still hope for an Angel’s resurrection.

“Just as Charlie gave his angels a second chance, ABC is giving the series four more episodes to make a mark. The network isn't saying that, and that outcome seems highly unlikely, but if the final four bring in good ratings, ABC will have to reconsider.”

Even with a former angel as executive producer and writers from CW’s Smallville, TV.com’s Tim Surette says some classics are better left alone.

“Charlie's Angels had a shot at doing something decent, but instead showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough decided to avoid campiness and go in a slightly more serious direction. A remake of a campy show that takes itself too seriously? Bad decision. In the end, more effort went into wardrobe than dialogue.”

Set in Miami, Charlie's Angels joined Burn Notice as one of the few Miami based shows to be filmed on location. WTVJ’s Janie Campbell says the fired Angels aren't the only ones hurting.

"Sorry, Charlie? More like sorry, Miami. With the Friday cancellation ... South Florida's film and TV production industry suffered major blows in money and momentum."

Charlie’s Angels is the fifth primetime show to get the boot this fall.
