Online warfare got a little too real for forty-six year old Mark Bradford of the U.K. When his online character in Call of Duty lost his life -- Bradford allegedly lost his mind.
Nine MSN News says Bradford tracked down the teen that had taunted him for getting killed -- and got violent.
“The unemployed father-of-three ... admitted one count of assault by beating at Plymouth Magistrates Court on September 29 and is due to be sentenced on October 24.”
MSNBC says Bradford since knew where the boy lived, he went to his house and reportedly choked the thirteen year old.
He said in court quote--
"It wasn’t malice. I just grabbed him. I’ve seen him since and apologized. The injuries weren’t that bad but I do regret it...”
But a blogger for G4TV says -- there’s no excuse for this kind of behaviour.
“I know emotions can run high in online games, but come on -- this is beyond unacceptable. Have you guys ever seen or heard of anything like this?”
The Mirror quotes the teen’s mother, adding...
“It’s pathetic that a grown man would attack a defenceless child like this. If you can’t handle losing to a child then you shouldn’t be playing games.”
Bradford has been released on an unrestricted bond until his next appearance in court. A mitigater says the man does have a history of mental health issues.
