News outlets around the world are following continued Israeli air strikes in the Gaza Strip. At least 315 people are dead with more than 1000 injured in the three-day violence. Israel launched the attacks in retaliation for rockets fired from Gaza over the past several months. Voice of America is reporting the almost instant rise in oil prices in the aftermath of the violence:

The price of U.S. light is up more than $3 to more than $40 a barrel:
