After two months of searching, Uber picked its new CEO — but it's not who many people expected.

People close to the decision told The New York Times Dara Khosrowshahi, the CEO of Expedia, will be offered the job.

Many people expected Hewlett Packard Enterprise CEO Meg Whitman to get the job. But reports say she and the Uber board couldn't agree on a few issues — including how much involvement former CEO Travis Kalanick would have.

Kalanick stepped down as CEO in June after facing scrutiny for the way he ran the company.

The third CEO candidate, General Electric Chairman Jeff Immelt, withdrew his name from consideration Sunday morning.

As CEO of Expedia, Khosrowshahi has a good track record.

Since taking the job in 2005, Khosrowshahi helped expand the company to over 75 countries. And Expedia's revenue for the 2016 fiscal year exceeded $8.7 billion.

According to Recode, Khosrowshahi hasn't accepted the new role yet but is expected to.
