Twitter Just Laid Out Its Schedule To Tackle Online Abuse

The news comes one week after Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said, "We're still not doing enough."

Twitter wants to show the world it's working on becoming a safer place. So on Thursday, the company released a calendar of upcoming safety-related initiatives and changes.

Notable changes include expanding the definition of "non-consensual nudity." Slated to be released Oct. 27, Twitter says the new definition will "err on the side of protecting victims."

On Nov. 3, Twitter will release new rules to suspend violent groups and organizations, as well as ban hateful imagery and hate symbols. Weeks later, on Nov. 22, the website will also prohibit hateful display names.

These new rules come amid criticism of the site's long-standing "abuse problem." Last week, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey tweeted, "We're still not doing enough."

That tweet was in response to the #WomenBoycottTwitter protest. Demonstrators stayed off Twitter on Oct. 13 in solidarity with actress Rose McGowan, who was temporarily suspended from the site.
