Saudi Arabia's King Salman has reshuffled his government, promoting some new blood to positions of power and giving a rare high-level appointment to a woman.

Tamader Al-Rammah is now the deputy minister of Saudi Arabia's labor and social development department. She's the only woman to currently hold a deputy minister role in the Saudi government.

The shake-up also replaces several leaders of the country's top military brass. No reason was given for the change, but it might be linked to the controversial Saudi intervention in Yemen's civil war.

The new changes are reportedly the work of Saudi Arabia's heir apparent, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The prince previously spearheaded economic reforms and a corruption crackdown to cement his authority as the next ruler.
