Hours after The New York Times published a story alleging Hillary Clinton "shielded" an adviser accused of sexual harassment, the former presidential candidate responded on Twitter.

Clinton tweeted Friday, "I was dismayed when it occurred, but was heartened the young woman came forward, was heard, and had her concerns taken seriously and addressed." Later, Clinton said she called the woman who made the accusation and told her she was proud of her for coming forward.

Clinton didn't speak further on the incident. But more importantly, she didn't actually address one of the biggest points of the Times' report: that even after her adviser was accused of sexual harassment, the Democratic candidate chose to keep him on staff. That decision was said to have been made against the advice of her campaign manager.
