Donald Trump Said His Dad Gave Him A 'Small' $1M Loan To Get Started
October 26, 2015
Donald Trump opened up about his (humble?) beginnings during a New Hampshire town hall meeting hosted by the "Today" show.
Trump recalled the time his father gave him a "small" loan of $1 million to get started in the real estate world.
"I came into Manhattan," Trump said. "I had to pay him back. I had to pay him back with interest. But I came into Manhattan, I started buying up properties. I did great.”
After host Matt Lauer pressed Trump on the fact that many people wouldn't consider that figure small, the real estate mogul said he turned that loan into a bigger fortune.
The strangest thing about coverage of Trump's "small $1M loan" comment this morning is that nobody's mentioning his $40M inheritance.— Zach Toombs (@zachtoombs) October 26, 2015
