The New 'Star Wars: Rogue One' Trailer Features An Old Favorite

October 13, 2016

The latest "Star Wars: Rogue One" trailer is here, and it's epic. The music, the cinematography, the laser guns: It's a recipe for nostalgia for more than one generation. And it looks like everyone's favorite villain is back ...

Us, too, Jordan. Us, too.

But for a lot of people, the most exciting part isn't the appearance of Darth Vader (rad as it is), but a short clip of a black woman speaking to the other rebels.

Representation is a huge conversation in Hollywood, and as movies continue to be whitewashed, it's easy to see why. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" made strides by having multiple nonwhite leads and a female main character, but introducing a black woman character (not a CGI alien voiced by a black woman) is still a big deal. We're not sure who she is, and we probably won't know until the movie premieres.

I guess we'll just have to sit back and wait for Dec.16.
