This 'SNL' Sketch Shows Us What It Would Look Like If Our Candidates Got AlongBy Danielle Dieterich | November 6, 2016
"SNL" has a long history of capitalizing on messy politics, and the show's writers have had a field day with the current election. But in the final episode before Election Day, the opening sketch ended with a surprising twist: Alec Baldwin (Donald Trump) and Kate McKinnon (Hillary Clinton) break character because they're tired of yelling at each other.
"This whole election has been so mean," McKinnon said.
"I just feel gross all the time," Baldwin said. "Don't you guys feel gross all the time about this?"
Then, they gallivanted around Times Square holding hands and giving out free hugs. It was weirdly kind of sweet.
To be fair, the sketch also included Trump kissing an FBI agent, Vladimir Putin and a member of the KKK.
Yikes. Still, it was nice to end on a relatively positive note.
