An Army Veteran Was Shot 7 Times Trying To Protect Classmates From Oregon Shooter
October 2nd, 2015
An Army veteran was shot seven times while trying to save others from the mass shooting at an Oregon community college yesterday.
Chris Mintz served 10 years in the Army and had just started school at Umpqua Community College.
His aunt, Sheila Brown, told NBC, "We were told he did heroic things to protect some people."
NBC also reported that Mintz suffered two broken legs. Brown said: "We're not sure how his legs got broken. He was on the wrestling team and and he's done cage fighting, so it does not surprise me that he would act heroically."
The New York Post also reported that Mintz had just moved to Oregon to be closer to his son, whose birthday was also yesterday.
Family members said Mintz is expected to make a full recovery.
