Bernie Sanders Is Going To The Vatican

April 8, 2016

Bernie Sanders is making a trip to the Vatican before the New York primary later this month. He'll speak at the annual Pontifical Academy of Social Science conference about "how we create a moral economy that works for all of the people."

And while Sanders is "not particularly religious" himself, he's also called himself a "big, big fan" of Pope Francis. In making the trip to the Vatican, Sanders is drawing comparisons between his views and those of the pontiff.

"[Francis] is talking about the idolatry of money, the worship of money, the greed that's out there," he told MSNBC Friday morning.

While the April 15th conference is hosted by Pope Francis, it's unclear whether Sanders will personally meet him.
