Vampires are like pirates and dinosaurs and ninjas. They just never get old.  View

Its epecially hard to compete when there are extreme differences in teams payrolls. One player (Alex Rodriguez) makes more money (32 million) than everyone on the Pittsburgh Pirates combined (25 million). There must come a point where owners can not buy the best player at every position. I think a 150 million dollar payroll should be mandated- I don't get why baseball players make more than NFL players.  View

Interesting story, I too doubt that this is the last we've heard of the pirates. Is it winter over there now?  View

It reminds me a little of Sir Francis Drake. The government from which the pirates come probably cares little compared to the countries whose ships are being attacked. And it is those countries who will simply need to respond as they see fit, considering the implications of their actions as they do (an armada would probably be excessive, but escorting or arming the targets would seem to be a sensible precaution).  View

I this pirate thing is just an outlet for media in a time when there isn't much out there to talk about except how bad everything is. We got this guy back, we killed some pirates, America is great, good work Obama - the whole thing is a stretch  View

I agree with ColoradoMadMax...yes, we were affected by these pirates and we should demand some change in policies. But, honestly, the U.S. does have a lot on its plate, and we are certainly not as close to the countries as some Euro nations are. It should, at the very least, be a collective effort.  View

I'm pretty sure the seals used heat sensitive sensors to do the shooting. As for jurisdiction, it'd be interesting to know whether the pirates were considered on u.s. soil by virtue of being on the Maersk lifeboat. Most ships aren't U.S. registered. Also, why did they get Robert Redford from The Natural to comment on piracy?  View

Short of putting a military blockade up around Somalia, how do you stop these pirates in small fishing boats? I don't think countries are ignoring this threat ... they just don't have a viable, feasible, way of stopping it.  View

I can't believe at this day in age, with the power of countries' armed forces, a group of rogue pirates are still able have this much power. The numbers alone in this story should be enough to get the attention of everyone and make some action happen.  View

they are currently holding 14 ships and 260 hostages?! wow. Yea insurance companies should keep paying up for hostages. These are human lives we're talking about. When someone gets attacked or held hostage in Iraq, it's a pretty big deal... and this should be too. I believe the pirates are doing it just for the money.  View
