Obama ran on a promise of bi-partisanship, so I'm sure a part of this is for show. At the same time, I do think he's trying to get health care passed and that means working together.  View

Those on the Right have a plan that will fix our health care system. The mainstream media has not covered this! Obama's Plan is about "Control" The more we learn the worse it gets. The "Right" is not obstructing..we are trying to save all our skins!  View

Out of curiosity, isn't the French government technically financially liable for the soldiers under their universal health care system? Isn't any compensation owed to the soldiers effectively paid out through medical expenses anyway?  View

I think a lot of this is based in pride; neither side seems willing to compromise. However, all I think that a filibuster will do is stall something that has already been drawn out way too long. Maybe I'm missing something, but why do the Republicans want to stall health care reform so bad? As for Americans who don't know what a filibuster is... That's just sad. We had to watch "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" in high school government, which might be the only reason why I know what it is. But at least I know!  View

I don't think a filibuster should be used because it will only slow down a discussion that is already crawling. If our government hopes to get American's the health care they need then it would be to their advantage to come to some sort of compromise.  View

This video makes me want universal health care so the government takes a real interest in the health of its citizens. However, I'm not sure plain packaging will make much of a dent in their attempt to discourage smoking. People are already aware that smoking can kill, but they also know you don't drop dead the next day. Packaging doesn't counter this problem. But hey, it's always worth a try!  View

I don't think any woman would change how she goes through the labor process just because a single study says eating is ok. It's the same way with mammograms. Any woman who takes her (or her children's) health seriously isn't going to take a panel of doctors seriously. She's going to listen to the doctor who has been taking care of her for years.  View

The Obama administration is simply trying to deviate from their recent collapse in Massachusetts and failure to woo the American people with their health care reform plan. Pretty typical political move in a state of policy failure.  View

I agree that Obama isn't seeing an end in sight with the health care reform issue and therefore he's shifting focus to another important issue that has a more immediate solution. I don't think it shows health care is less important, just it's going to take longer to make changes than originally hoped.  View

It certainly seems as though Obama is using this to shift focus away from the struggles Democrats are encountering with their Health Care reform bill. Hopefully this endeavor can be more success (or at least, in a quicker fashion).  View
