Too bad they didn't patent Facebook status updates 3 years ago. And I agree with the comment about Facebook and Google being around for a long time. I don't see them going anywhere anytime soon.  View

I like the comparison of the post office. Google is the medium for which information, including videos, is transferred from one user to another. There is no way they can monitor every upload. Nor should they have to. They might have to take something down, but prior restraint is unnecessary and unrealistic.  View

I think that after all of this, Google will still stay strong. But they should really be suing the kids that uploaded it.  View

I think that facebook will be around as long as they don't start getting greedy (are you listening google??) and continue to allow us (the public) to update and control the information we let others know about us.. Facebook gives everyone a medium to gather and communicate and only asks in return that we look at an advertisement or four in return.. Oh, and they arn't a blatent data mine...  View

that's awesome about the facebook/google chrome extension that goes into the gmail. i'm not sure i really need to use it personally, but i like the idea of beating google in its own medium.  View

Facebook is a destination and Google's products are utilities. There is a big difference there. Facebook has positioned itself as the answer to the "portal" craze of the late 90's - by wrapping it around a social environment. Games, news, classifieds - its all starting to get bigger and bigger. Google has always focused on aggregation and utility - to become a destination will mean lots of catching up. But then again, with all that money, some key acquisitions could get the job done too.  View

Facebook is going to be okay. Nielson said the average internet user spends more time on Facebook than Google, Wikipedia, Amazon and Youtube combined  View
