The Qassam Rocket the Zionist-Gov describes as so dangerous, is a home made fence-post cylinder with welded-fins and small-crude warhead. It's max range in about 7-miles, with most landing in outback regions where no one lives. One town outside of Gaza is just within range, a second town not quite in range, the deaths or injuries from Gaza rockets I believe was said two people killed, and this was reason the Zionist-Gov used for the Gaza massacre. Israel did everything in its power to stop rocket attacks onto its own people without hurting innocent Gazans. They even called Gazans' cell phones to tell them to leave their building before each air bombing! Who does that in war? View

There is an acceptable peace now going on in Israel and Gaza. Perfection is impossible between the two cultures. The peace will be broken when donations from the international community are depleted. View
Cutting out Hamas is not a good idea. They effectively control Gaza as much as anyone can claim to. Even if many international actors don't want to legitimate the rule of a group that has sponsored terrorist acts...denying they exist isn't going to help aid in reconstruction. But, Moon's argument that settlement is the grievance perpetuating violence is undermined by reports of ultra-orthodoxy taking hold of even mainstream Jerusalem. Every player is getting harder core culturally, and it's not just because other players are breaking the 'rules'. Extremism is the problem, not border encroachment. Without a moderating cultural or political influence on both the gazan and israeli sides, peace isn't probable. View
the amil tigers are listed as a terrorist organization by 24 countries. It is resonsible for countless suicide attacks on innocent civilians.
The Sri Lankan army is well funded by the government this time. The army has well experienced soldiers. In every battle front the army is using Elite soldiers that penetrate in to tamil tiger territory.
One important factor that distinguishes this war endavour from past ones is the government not allowing the internatinal community getting involved in our military affairs.
Previously many of our military endavours were paused due to pressure from India, United States and Great Britian.
These stoppages of the war cost our military heavily. Every time the war was stopped the L.T.T.E re-grouped themselves and attacked the Sri lankan armed forces heavily.
Foreign inlvolvement occurs due to western politicians recieving funds for their election campaigns and to gain favor among the tamil commuinities living in certain western countries who form a significant part of the voter base.
This involvement of foreign politicians have prolonged this conflict causing the ltte to be strenghened and our armed forces to be brutally attacked.
The current government has not given in to the pressures of the international community this time. It backed the armed forces with full support.
It is ironic how western countries and israel do war in iraq, afganistan, palestine and lebanon as they wish.
They freely pursue their military objectives as they please killing hundreds of civillians and expect the sri lankan army to pause the war on humanitirian grounds.
Did any one stop America from dropping a atomic bomb on Japan and killing millions of civillians? Is the international community imposing economi sanctions against Israel for its brutal aerial bombings both in Gaza as well as Lebanon.
Howcome these powerful countries committ mass humanatarian catastrophes in the name of defending their security and we have not been allowed to defend ours. View
The pull-out of troops in Gaza seems more convenient for the IDF than it does for the Obama administration. The IDF has more to gain from the diverted news attention of the inauguration than it does from allowing President Obama a break in foreign policy disputes. View
I could be misinterpreting the AP clip, but I thought it was way off-base. Obama said that peace in the Middle East would be a priority. Israel is attacking. I think they realized that the new president would probably not be as friendly to them as Bush was, so it would be pointless to keep fighting in Gaza. Just look at the Haaretz clip, which is in fact an Israeli paper. View
If Gaza really is #2 on President Obama's list of priorities, this is a very good thing. The president can't afford to put off working towards peace between the Palestinians and Israelis until the waning days of his administration, like his two predecessors did. THe new administration needs to be working on a solution between Palestine/Israel right out of the gate - and hopefully, this will be a two-state solution. View
