It's been a year...and, certainly, numerous people painted him as a type of god. He's not. He's a human being with a huge plate full of issues to work through, including Afghanistan; a U.S. recession; an increasingly split political U.S.
Too early to truly evaluate. View
While it would be wonderful to get U.S. troops out of Afghanistan, it surely seems as if there are continuous troubles there--and that we probably shouldn't leave just yet if we want to weaken the Taliban. I understand that the U.S. army perhaps does not have the proper skills or people to start police stations, etc. But, for pete's sake, couldn't they get some of those people/resources sent to Afghanistan? It seems like a small step that could (at least partially) help a much larger conflict. View

Of course we are not in Afghanistan and of course we all have the right to freedom of speech (hence me speaking my mind). Unfortunately you don't realize and by the looks of it, you will NEVER realize the damage you're doing to your "beloved" America by being so racist. No, I'm not a moron for thinking this costume and the people wearing it are racist. As a matter of fact, it shows that I think beyond of what is in front of me. To you all simple-minded, it is just a costume. But to someone with more depth, it is a racist costume. You will probably never have the mentality to understand how it is racist but I can only pray that your children won't be so dim-witted. View

We are not in Afghanistan... This is USA and we all have the right to say what's our mind or dress the way you like. There are more then a 1000 believes that will make people react to whatever you decide to dress. Personally I don't give a rat's ass about other people trying to use their believes to make a point... I got by today's era and not ice-age way of thinking. Everyone should respect 100% of what others do or dress like an Illgegal or Jesus. Again, we are not in the past or in an Afghanistan life style. So now the de facto ruler of Afghanistan is a fraud... this would be a great opportunity to decide to stop support. View

The Western Empire (predominant U$) established Mujihadeen (Afghan), replaced by the Taliban, today rolled up with others into mythology called the Al-Qaeda, and the CIA cash crop of Afghan and Columbia finance the Military/Industrial perpetual war economy with a Check-Kiting Trade-Dollar in the absents of any morality or decency.
Blame the Afghanistan (only) for not all dying in the 1979-2009 "Give Russia Their Own Vietnam" and our Military/Industrial needing a time to regroup (in Afghan) to eventually spread their 'Constabulary' world domination into other parts of the world. View
The question of whether we should focus on Afghanistan v Pakistan is flawed, it is not an either or situation the two are inexorably linked. I also, think tribalism and economic concerns are two of the biggest factors informing the tenor of this war. Coverage tends to focus on the merits of hard power i.e. bombs dropped, troop numbers and military might, because you can't sell soft power solutions to the American public. The administration needs to find a favorable balance between the two and it needs to get on that post-haste. View

If Obama does not want to send additional to support the troops already in Afghanistan, then he should bring them all home until he makes up his mind. Otherwise, he is leaving the troops already on the ground "in harm's way." View
It's rather depressing that voting controversies are such recurring phenomena in Afghanistan. Just when we think--and certainly, when the Afghan people think--the country is putting its first foot forward, something weird like this happens. Still, it's not absolutely terrible as long as there is no huge runoff or violence. I hate to say it because I certainly do not want the U.S. to send more troops, but we might have to for the time-being unless the two men (Karzai and Abdullah) can strike a deal. View
