Regardless of efforts from other nations, Afghanistan is doomed for corruption. I feel we're only delaying the inevitable.  View

As I understand it, this battle in Marja is the most important battle in our war in Afghanistan to date. This is going to happen.  View

I'm not advocating war, but international sanctions have done nothing. Since we've been committed to Iraq and Afghanistan, Iran and North Korea have grown stronger.  View

Limiting civilian casualties is a top priority in Afghanistan, but it might not be a smart strategy to broadcast the next target. I doubt it's a trick.  View

"The attackers seemed to come from nowhere" pretty much sums it up. The thing is, we're inadvertently training some of these people ourselves. My dad told me that we'll train some police in Afghanistan, they'll disappear for a few days, then come back to shoot back at us. It's so messed up!  View

The presence of the Taliban was shown by the attack. The security in Afghanistan is clearly not sufficient to prevent these kind of attacks from happening. I think the purpose of the attack was to show that the Taliban is not willing to negotiate and remain violent towards the government.  View

this country (an empty area with no racial history...if you don't count the natives, which, let's face it, we don't) started with a clean slate and it still took 150 years and a bloody civil war for every citizen to gain the rights promised in our founding documents and institutions. how can we expect the people of Afghanistan to do same in a fraction of the time and constant input from foreign governments and corporations? I don't imagine even Washington, Adams and Jefferson could get much done if Blackwater/Xe/whatever were always in their business.  View

Inability to multitask? Really? Let's see, what is he dealing with, right now? Iraq, Gitmo, Afghanistan, the economic crisis (which actually is about 3 different problems in one), terrorist attacks, and a promise to get something done on healthcare reform. And those are just the big items. He's done this all while being 5x more open than the former administration, pushing through sweeping changes in the tech infrastructure that let's everyone see what's happening in government (if they care to look). Has he made mistakes? Hell yes. Has he gotten distracted? Of course. But then I didn't think he was a messiah. Like Obama, I give him a B for his first year.  View

How can anyone make a right or wrong call on this one? It's too early to tell, the war in Afghanistan is too unpredictable. My two cents: our troops are better off facing the new challenges ahead with reinforcements.  View
