Something to Talk About

April 14, 2011

Lately Newsy has taken to the road to spread the gospel of mobile video news. Last Saturday, VP of News Jim Flink keynoted the Society of Professional Journalists conference in Overland Park, Kansas - explaining how journalists can thrive in the aftermath of traditional media’s demise. This includes updating skill sets to become vertically integrated in an organization and acting on the latest trends of how news stories are told and delivered.
On Tuesday, Newsy President Jim Spencer spoke at the ODNI, a national intelligence conference, about changing trends in news and information consumption and their implications for how people stay informed.
On Wednesday, Spencer spoke at the NAB in Las Vegas on the 'Mobile Apps versus Mobile Web panel.' It discussed the competing considerations in determining whether mobile players should "go" app or web.
In May, Spencer will speak at the Streaming Media conference in New York about how video news has been transformed by the web and mobile. Leaders in the space including Bill MCandless of Huffington Post and Andy Plesser of Beet.tv will discuss distribution and syndication models and the emergence of new platforms for news, including mobile and connected TV's.
Something else to talk about? Newsy was nominated for the Webby Award for ‘Best Use of Mobile Video.' Please help us win the Internet's highest honor by voting here.
